85th Texas Legislative Session
 
The deadline for filing legislation for this legislative session has passed.  The final count of regularly filed bills stands at 8,163 with 5,385 in the House and 2,778 in the Senate. As noted last week, the real work now has begun with committee hearings and floor action until the Texas Legislature adjourns on Monday, May 29. TPA Recognizes Outgoing Directors; Welcomes New President
Past President Carol Reagan recognized the following outgoing Board directors for their service, stating that, “Their dedication to the Association through their service on the Association’s Board of Directors has been truly remarkable.  They deserve our gratitude for being great stewards of our Association.”

Rene Garza, outgoing President; Charlotte Weller, outgoing Immediate Past President; Raj Chhadua, outgoing Treasurer; Chris Alvarado, outgoing Director; Michael Muniz, outgoing Director; Robert Mayes, outgoing Speaker of the House; and Haemy Chung, outgoing student pharmacist representative.

Reagan then welcomed Mary Klein, the incoming president of the Texas Pharmacy Association, as she took the oath of office.

March CE Free to Members
Expanding Clinical Pharmacy Services in the Independent Community Pharmacy
This presentation will include a brief history of clinical pharmacy services in the community pharmacy including MTM, travel immunizations, and discharge counseling opportunities as well as provide information to pharmacists how to create physician-based clinical pharmacy protocols and how to bill for clinical pharmacy services.
