|Texas Pharmacy Foundation|
The Texas Pharmacy Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization committed to advancing the profession of pharmacy in Texas. It is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt education and research corporation. The Foundation is exempt from federal income tax as well as state sales and franchise taxes. It also is eligible to receive tax deductible contributions from individuals and corporations.
The Foundation was chartered by the State of Texas in 1970 by a petition from charter members and past presidents of Texas Pharmacy Association. For many years (1970 – 1998), the Foundation assisted Texas pharmacists by administering local drug benefit programs, providing ACPE accredited continuing education, collaborating on applied research projects and conducting fundraising campaigns.
As opportunities to advance the standards of pharmacy practice availed themselves, the Foundation assumed a broader role. Using the solid history and strengths of the Foundation - its reputation, creative volunteers and staff - TPF has pursued innovative means to meet funding needs for scholarships and special projects to support quality of health care and the profession of pharmacy.
The Foundation continues to be well positioned to support and coordinate applied research and development projects, utilizing resources of the Association, universities, pharmacies and pharmacists as well as grants and annual campaign efforts to build support and strengthen its Permanent Endowment Fund
The Foundation's Mission
To enhance the delivery of quality health care to patients and advance the pharmacy profession in Texas through research and education.
Volunteers and Staff
The volunteer members of the Foundation are committed and actively involved in the management of the organization. The Board of Trustees meets regularly and members participate on several committees that provide staff with direction to address the goals of the Foundation. The talented and dedicated volunteers and staff are a significant strength of the organization.
The support of shared staff and access to the Association’s technology enhances the efficiency of the Foundation’s operations. In addition, the Foundation has a viable professional relationship with many pharmaceutical industry partners that are committed to funding Foundation projects to meet the goals of improving pharmacy practice in the state of Texas.
